This morning our family is in Santa Barbara, California about 100 miles from where we live. Although this trip is not a vacation, we don’t take our pets with us on vacations or trips for a couple of reasons. The most obvious one is that there are so many that it’s easier to have someone come in and take care of them than to take them with us. The other reason, it’s really the most important, is that most of them get very stressed out when they’re not at home. The dogs are even happy when one of them goes with us and the others don’t. The ones that stay behind actually seem depressed and unhappy if we take only one to the vet or a dog show. The cats don’t like to ride in the car at all. But, whether they’re with us or under the care of a pet sitter, we’re always talking about the pets. So this morning, when we were out of town without the pets we were delighted to find a coffee house called COFFEE CAT and said that’s the place for us! They had the usual offerings of coffees, teas and fruit drinks as well as muffins, croissants, assorted breads, crepes and breakfast sandwiches – and the added pleasure that lots of people there like to chat about their pets!
